...that Thais Valdemar (Russian dancer) and Karl Dane (silent film actor) had secretly married on May 4 in Santa Ana, CA. Their legal names, Thais Walkonski and Rasmus Karl Trekelsen Gottlieb, were used. I hope ...

In June 1928 Dane fell hard for Russian dancer Thais Valdemar. The couple began dating and eventually claimed to be married. The couple lived together at Dane's Beverly Hills home until November 1928 when Valdemar moved out. By December she filed a Breach of Promise suit against Dane for $75,000, but the case was ultimately dropped in early 1929.

She was the wife of Major Henry L. Rosenfeld, Jr, killed in action in Burma in WWII. Her daughter is Mrs. Annette K Turner and son Paul W Crawley.

I am the Great Granddaughter of Tanya. I have tons of old letters that were written from my great grandmother too Rosenbled but we do not have the marriage cert either for the union of Dane. The family does not believe she was ever a princess, there is no documented proof. Her daughter Annette is my grandmother (deceased), my grandmother escaped china during the revolution and ended up in California, she did not like her mother 'Tanya' she was not a nice person. Tanya died of lung cancer in NYC and left all the family money too Sloan-Kettering Cancer Hospital. She is buried in a family tomb in Delaware. She lived a very colourful life and has travelled and changed her name several times throughout her life.
I am very sorry for any misspellings I wrote this in a rush, but feel free to contact me anytime, I have a great cousin who lives in California who has done extensive research and her father my grandmother's brother has travelled the world including Russia and China for any information.
Good luck and kind regards, Jackie
