Elijah M. Davis


Elijah M. Davis, 92, of Nebo, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at The McDowell Hospital.

Born September 13, 1909 in McDowell County to the late Marion Francis and Eva Ann Morgan Davis, he was a retired building contractor and belonged to a non-denominational church. He had also served in the US Navy in WWII.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lovie Elliott Davis.

Survivors include five sons: Dean and Fred Davis, both of Marion, Mickey and Francis Davis, both of Old Fort, and Donald Davis of Morganton; three daughters: Louise Brown of Nebo, Brenda Brown of Lincolnton, NC, and Nancy Miller of Old Fort; a sister, Mamie Chapman, of Marion; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Westmoreland Chapel. Mr. Leslie Pulley and Mr. Mike Wahlbrink were speakers at the service. The family received friends one hour prior to the service and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park.
