Marion “Meme” Brown Booth was born on September 20, 1918 and lived a full life of 101 years. She passed away peacefully in her Fulton, Maryland home on October 20, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones.

The daughter of Halbert and Oma Brown, Marion spent her childhood years with three siblings in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. She attended George Washington University. Marion was an avid golfer, winning many regional women’s golfing tournaments in her prime and in her later years. She was a mother, wife, homemaker and early childhood educator. She also was a longtime member of Manor Country Club and a mentor to many, many golfers of all ages. Her love of golf and her competitive spirit on the links and at the Bridge and Rummy tables was matched only by her love for her family, friends, gardening, the outdoors and sunshine.

Marion was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, a former football player at George Washington University and a U.S. Marine, Murphy Byron Booth. They married in 1943 and spent most of their life together in Hyattsville, MD. Murphy passed on December 8, 1995.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Susan Gay Biordi (Rudy) of Fulton, MD., Bette Smith (Ron) of Highland, MD., and William Booth (Nancy) of Davidsonville, MD., and Murphy Booth (Sharon) of Silver Spring, MD. In addition to her children, Marion is survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
