("Yorkshire Gazette" 30 Jun 1849, page 5):
DEATH OF A DAUGHTER OF THE DUKE OF SUTHERLAND.
The Duke and Duchess of Sutherland have sustained a severe domestic calamity, by the sudden demise of their youngest daughter, the Lady Alexandrina Leveson Gower. The deceased child, about 18 months old, was taken with convulsions in the course of Thursday morning, (the day after the nuptials of the Marquis of Stafford and Miss Hay Mackenzie,) and never afterwards rallied, and died within a few hours. This unexpected bereavement has cast a heavy gloom over the domestic circle, and put an end to the anticipated gaieties at Stafford House. The duke and duchess and family for the present are at Cliefden House, near Maidenhead, where the melancholy event took place.

("Inverness Courier" 28 Jun 1849, page 2):
A painful and unexpected event followed close upon this happy union [the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sutherland's oldest son]. On Thursday (the day after the nuptials) the Duke and Duchess of Sutherland lost their infant daughter, the Lady Alexandrina Leveson Gower, born in February 1848. One of those sudden attacks to which children are liable carried off the infant after a few hours' illness. This sudden bereavement cast a heavy gloom over the domestic circle, and put an end to the anticipated gaieties at Stafford House.
