Paul R. Haskell, 80, passed away peacefully at home July 12, 2007. He was born March 8, 1927, to the late Jess and Katherine Haskell. Paul retired as a congressionally appointed master chief from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service. He served during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. Paul had a special love for the flight deck and time spent with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After retiring from the Navy, he had a successful career keeping Norfolk's Wainwright building ship shape. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna Haskell; and son, Paul Richard Haskell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Austreverta Haskell; daughters, Debbi Nixon and her husband Tommy and Shawn Haskell-Henry and her husband Mark; stepdaughters, Denise Locklear and her husband Jonathan and Damaris Rivera; and grandchildren, Paul Richard Haskell Jr., Erika L. Locklear and Jon Michael Locklear. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
