Avee Jurney
Mrs. Avee Jurney, highly respected and well beloved teacher in the Hickman city schools over a period of 33 years, died at her home on Carroll Street, Tuesday evening at nine o'clock following a brief illness. She lacked only a few days of being 77 years old.
Last rites were held at the home at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. O. C. Markham, pastor of the 1st Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was at City Cemetery with Barrett's funeral services.
Active pallbearers were Jack Stahr, Paul Stahr, Charles A. Stahr, Roland Stahr, Will Caldwell and Ben Lattus.
Mrs. Jurney, daughter of James N. And Elizabeth Gray Davis, was born near Cape Girardeau, Mo., but spent the greater part of a long and useful life in Hickman. She was the widow of Will H. Jurney.
Will H. Jurney who preceded her in death 47 years ago.
She is survived by one son, Doyle Jurney of Lancaster, Wis.; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Stahr of Fancy Farm; several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.
