Death Takes Mother Of Late Governor At Berkeley
Berkeley, Jan. 22.-(UP)- Mrs. Mary Ann Balzar, 86, mother of Fred B. Balzar, late governor of Nevada, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, here tonight following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Balzar, who lived in Hawthorne, Nev., suffered a heart attack while visiting her sister which complicated previous ailments.
She was the widow of the late Serifen Balzar, and was survived a daughter, Mrs. Florence Davis, Elizabeth, N.C., and two sons, Herman S. Balzar and Burt Balzar of Hawthorne.
Mrs. Balzar, a native of Canada, came to Nevada in 1870 and had lived there since, at Virginia City and Hawthorne.
