Newspaper articles regarding the accident and death of Frank C. Campbell. They were published in: Nevada State Journal, 20 January 1913, page 2, "Died, CAMPBELL"; the Reno Evening Gazette, 20 January 1913, page 6, "Meets Death Under Wheels"; the Sparks Tribune: 22 January 1913, page 1, "Coroner's Jury's Verdict"; Nevada State Journal, 5 March 1913, page 8, "Sad Errand Is Made Doubly Sad".
Excerpt from the newspaper articles:
Charles Francis "Frank" Campbell died Sunday, 19 January 1913 in Sparks, Washoe County, Nevada.
The "Coroner's Jury's Verdict," concluded Frank was killed by being run over while attempting to board the eastbound train No. 10, of the Southern Pacific company, on Sunday, January 19, 1913, at the Glendale crossing, Sparks, Nevada. It appeared he was attempting to ride without paying his fare and made a jump for the second baggage car of the train, which was then running about 15 miles an hour. A small bundle he carried, appeared to have interfered with his catching a firm hold on the hand rails, with the result that he was thrown across the rail under the cars. He was about 26 years old and his nativity uncertain, owing to the conflicting stories told by himself when living. He will be buried by the Perkins-Gulling company."

The Reno Evening Gazette, said Frank was well dressed, had a supply of money in his pockets, some papers which indicated he had recently been employed by the Utah construction company, and had a membership card which entitled him to treatment at the company's hospital. No reply had been received to a telegram sent by the undertakers, Perkins-Gulling company. They were waiting for word as to the disposition of the body.

In another article, "SAD ERRAND IS MADE DOUBLY SAD", Perkins-Pulling Undertaker had received word from Frank's brother, J. S. Campbell, saying he was on his way to Kansas City, accompanying his father's body, who had recently died, and would stop and get the remains of his brother, Frank C. Campbell.
[NOTE: it is not known for sure that J. S. Campbell actually took his father's and brother's remains to Kansas.]

According to the Campbell Family Bible, Frank's parents, H. G. Campbell and Hattie M. Bailey were united in marriage at the home of S. L. Bailey, 25 February 1883, in Kansas, by Rev. Henry Stanley.

The Obituary for Frank's mother, Mrs. H. G. Campbell, Hattie Bailey, in the Nemaha County Spectator, Wetmore, KS, Friday April 28, 1899, p. 1, said after their marriage they lived in Kansas for 5 years and then moved to Washington State. In 1894 they returned to Kansas. The 1885 Kansas State Census, Jackson County, Township of Jefferson, showed H. G. Campbell, born in Kansas, a farmer, his wife Hattie M, born in Ohio, and one son, John, age 1 year, born in Kansas.

The 1892 State of Washington census, County of Stevens [no township listed], showed H. G. Campbell, 28, born in Kansas, Hattie M. Campbell, 27, born in Ohio, and their 4 children: John, male, 8, born in Kansas; Mable, female, 6, born in Kansas; Agnes, female, 4, born in Washington; Frances, male, 1, born in Washington.
