Felix Edward Bowers was born on August 28, 1876 in Davidson County, Tennessee, and he was the son of Richard "Columbus" Bowers (1858– ) and Martha Jane "Mattie" (Payne) Bowers (1856– ). {According to the Delayed Certificate of Birth for Felix, his father was born in North Carolina and his mother was born in Tennessee. Columbus and Mattie were married in 1874.}

He attended Nashville public schools and graduated from Cumberland University Law School, Lebanon.

Felix was married 1st about 1896 to Willie Mai Stanley (1880–1903), and he was married 2nd to Miss Lillie "Belle" Winsette (1889–1969) on November 6, 1903 in Nashville, and she was the daughter of William Jason Winsette and Mary Elizabeth (Bates) Winsette.

He became a member of the Nashville Bar Association and practiced law for many years before going into partnership with his son Steve Bowers as Bowers & Bowers. He was an elder and trustee of California Avenue Church of Christ and was instrumental in obtaining the property and planning the building of the Pennsylvania Avenue church where he also served as an elder and was a teacher until he became ill. Felix was also a member of the Junior Order.

Living at 5306 Pennsylvania Avenue in Nashville, Felix was 79 years old and married when he died at home on June 16, 1956 of hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

Survivors included his widow Belle, sons Maurice Bowers, Wallace Bowers, Steve Bowers and William Bowers in Nashville and Paul E Bowers of Alcoa, Tennessee, sisters Mrs R I Gourley at Huntingdon, West Virginia and Mrs Gertrude Angelus in Middletown, Ohio, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on June 17th, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
