Obituary ~ Iola Register ~ Iola, KS ~ February 15, 1965
Edgar Lewis Barnhart, 90, of rural Iola, Kansas, died this morning at the Allen County Hospital in Iola.
He was born at Brady's Bend, Pennsylvania. Mr. Barnhart came to Kansas with his parents in 1880 and settled on a farm northwest of Iola.
On December 13, 1902, he married Ethyl Kees of Neosho Falls, Kansas, and they moved to a farm west of Iola, where he spent the remainder of his life as a farmer.
During the 1920's, he served two terms as a county commissioner, and he also served a number of years on school and township boards.
Survivors include his widow, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy B. Anderson of Iola, KS, Miss Marjorie Barnhart of Washburn, MO, and Mrs. Lenore Osborn of Iola, KS; two sons, Max of Overland Park, KS, and Don of the home; a sister, Mrs. Emma Long of Iola; and seven grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Iola Township Cemetery, Allen County, Kansas.
