Richard Marc Jones died of renal cancer on February 11, 2014 in Burlington, NC. He was 63.
Marc grew up in Des Moines and was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was an Air Force veteran and served in Vietnam.
After leaving the service, Marc married Christy Henry and they had a son, Todd. They later divorced.
Marc graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in safety engineering which led him to a career in the petrochemical industry. He worked at several locations in the U.S. and in Saudi Arabia and St. Croix.
Marc married Tara LeGros in 2004 and they eventually settled in Burlington where they owned J&L Bicycle Company. After their marriage they changed their surname to Jones-LeGros.
Marc is survived by his wife, Tara of Graham, NC, son Todd Jones of Baton Rouge, LA, parents John R. and Patricia Jones of Des Moines, siblings Suzanne(Stephen) Volkmer-Jones, Des Moines, Bill(Fancye)Jones of Farragut,TN, David(Anne)Ducharme-Jones of Austin, TX and Sarah(Rick)Shively of Council Bluffs,IA.
A funeral service was held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on February 15 in Burlington, NC.
A visitation with the family will be held Saturday, March 1, from 2-4pm in the community room at 3660 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA.
