Carter Aaron Barrow was born January 28, 1875, the son of James Barrow and Sabray Carter Musgrave Barrow. He married Effie Afton Keller on June 18, 1899, in Jackson County, Illinois. They had no children. He died December 10, 1900, in Campbell Hill and was buried in Calvary Cemetery there. Carter was said to be over seven feet tall, and at his death, a special casket had to be constructed.

June 1900 census Bradley Township, Jackson, Illinois, family 132. His wife's father was living with them and his wife's sister Lulu and a niece Pearl KELLER, born July, 1890, and a nephew Herman Barrow, born November, 1875. Carter's wife Effie is listed as a widow in May 1910, they had no children.
