Jerry Dean Richardson, 79, formerly of Arrowhead Estates, Oklahoma died Monday, October 14, 2019 in Salem, Oregon surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester under the direction of Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
Jerry was born February 19, 1940 in Neosho, Missouri to Nola (Hargraves) Richardson and Joe Rivers Richardson. Jerry accepted and received Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1963, just before marrying Anne Powers on June 28th of the same year. They lived their lives together serving the Lord with conviction and obedience.
He joined the U.S. Army on February 6, 1959 and was honorably discharged on February 5, 1965. He retired from General Motors after a career of over 20 years and moved to Arrowhead Estates. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester. He enjoyed marathon running, wood-working and gospel music.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters: Angela Richardson and Lisa Lee and husband, Robert; grandchildren: Shane Matthews and wife, Samantha, Scott Lee and Marshall Lee; three great grandchildren: Brooklynn, Charlotte and Jackson all of Salem, OR; his sisters: Barbara Gibson of Galena, KS and Kathy Dixon of Miami, OK; and sister-in-law, Opal Richardson.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Powers) Richardson on March 15, 2008, his parents; siblings, Beverly Richardson, Benny Richardson and Gerald Richardson; and brothers-in-law, Sonny Dixon and Gary Gibson.
