Big Stone Gap, Va.-Georgia Oaks Thompson passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va.

Georgia was born to Orbin Oaks and Maude (Zeeks) Oaks Lewis on Feb. 8, 1936. She was a strong woman of God. The faith she exhibited was truly an inspiration to her family and all that knew her. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had such a wonderful sense of humor, and a heart pure of gold. She had such a way of loving anyone unconditionally, just as Jesus does. She never thought someone didn't deserve love and respect. She was there for anyone who needed her. Even through her illness, she cared very deeply for others, especially her family. Georgia was a warrior for God. She went through many trials in her life, but never wavered from her faith. It is a great comfort to know that she is now with all of her loved ones that have passed before her. What a reunion that is!

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray A. Thompson; her beloved son, Allen Ray Thompson; grandchildren, Howard Ray, Timothy Guy, Jackie Joe and Misty Dawn; brothers, Garland Oaks, Roy Oaks, Eddie Oaks and Jim Oaks; sisters, Audrey Oaks Grove, Sue Carmack and Irma Bush; and a son-in-law, Donnie Hamilton.
