Margie A. Allen, of Porterdale, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the age of 89. Mrs. Allen was a lifetime member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church. She had an amazing faith in her Lord and a true servant’s heart. Mrs. Allen was the eldest of nine children, and she loved her family dearly. Mrs. Allen enjoyed sitting on her front porch and was thrilled when her family and friends would come for a visit. She was especially delighted when she was able to cook for them! She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Smith, Sr.; second husband, Harold (Buddy) Allen; parents, L.D. and Jessie Allen; sister, Hilda Ayers; brothers, J.L. Allen, Jerry Allen, Frank Allen, Charles Allen, Tony Allen.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bobby Marks; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Cindy Smith; grandchildren and their spouses, Rob and Angie Marks, Shane and Sunshine Marks, Bunky Marks, Chris and LaDonna Smith, Jen and Justin Vachon, Will McGibony; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Sorrow; brother and sisters-in-law, Pete and Patt Allen, Judy Allen, Cathy Allen, Mattie Allen.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Allen will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, 2:30 P.M., at Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, 3 Cotton Street, in Porterdale, with Pastor Roger Cato and Bill Norton officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, October 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 700, Porterdale, GA 30070.
