Also surviving are one daughter, Paula Jeane (Sam) Sredanovich of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; two sons, Stephen Eugene (Karen) Reed of Santa Marie, Calif., and Bradley John (Laurie) Reed of Hemet, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Judy C. (Eugene) Phillips of Spring City, Ind.; three stepsons, James “Rich” Brawner of Marquette Heights, John B. (Cheryl) Brawner Jr. of Eureka and Terryl L. (Kathy) Brawner of Pekin; and one sister, Viola J. Wolfer of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, one brother and one sister.
Melvin served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years, retiring in 1980 as a window clerk.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy.
