LAVALE – Mary Theresa Huffman Plummer, 94, of LaVale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at home.
Born on August 12, 1925, in Corriganville, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Edna May (DeVore) Morris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, H. Flint Huffman in 1988, and Robert W. Plummer in 2009; brothers, James, Richard, and Francis Morris; sisters, Shirley Plummer, Anna Taylor, and Delores Stottlemyer; brother-in-law, Charles Taylor; and son-in-law, Earl Hillegas.
Mary was a member of LaVale Chapel, where she received Christ. She later attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and NorthStar Church until she was no longer able to go. She enjoyed going to the senior group in Centerville, PA, and the Good Samaritans at Cornerstone.
When she was able, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and just spending time with her family. She was a Godly example to her friends and family, and will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol A. Hillegas, and Theresa A. Stevens and husband Larry, all of LaVale; five grandchildren, Steve Hillegas, Cumberland, Brian Hillegas and wife Kathie, Hancock, MD, Matthew Stevens and wife Eli, Norfolk, VA, Allyssa Smith and husband Roland, Cumberland, and Jesse Stevens, Norfolk, VA; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Hillegas, LaVale, Noah Hillegas, Cumberland, Trinity Hillegas, Cumberland, and Zaniyah Stevens, Norfolk, VA; one great great-grandson, Elijah Hillegas, LaVale, born this year, and who put the sparkle back in her eyes; and two step-daughters, Cheryl A. Mitchell and family, Greentown, PA, and Sharon L. Hardinger and family, Cumberland.
Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 4 p.m. with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Final resting place will be in Sunset Memorial Park beside her beloved Flint.
The family would like to thank Western Maryland Hospice for their kindness and care during her final months.
The family has requested that, in lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions be made to the NorthStar Church, PO Box 99, Rawlings, MD 21557.
