Mabel M. Stewart
Mabel M. Stewart died Dec 7 in Toronto after a short illness. She was 94. She was born in May,1899 in Ramsay Township to the late Donald Stewart and the late Charlotte Watson. She attended Appleton Public School, Almonte High School and St Hilda's College in Toronto. After teaching in British Columbia and Kenora, Miss Stewart joined Standard Oil Company's Bitumuls branch at Leaside. She retired from there 30 years later. She belonged to the Toronto Yacht Club and enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and travelling the world. She is survived by niece Anne Fulton of Almonte, grandniece Arlene Olhman of Arnprior and grandnephews Douglas and Donald Fulton of Almonte and Don Morley Everett of Washington. She was predeceased by sisters Christine and Margaret Stewart and Ethel Morley, brother Alex and nephew Peter Morley. Rev L. Samms led the memorial service at the Gamble Funeral Home Dec 16 at 2:30 p.m. After a private cremation in Toronto, her remains will be buried in the family plot at the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
