McBAINE Mr. Franklin E. "Frank" McBaine, age 78 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, August 18, 2008, at his home. Frank was born April 25, 1930, in Columbia, Mo., the son of Henry and Jewell Thornton McBaine, both deceased. He was married on October 4, 1952, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Lois Miller, who preceded him in death on August 1, 1970. On July 20, 1974, he married Barbara Mertens Williams in Jefferson City, Mo., and she survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Frank graduated from Hickman High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Frank was employed with the Co-op Oil Company in Columbia, Mo. He also worked for the Sheet Metal, Local #36, and for the City of Jefferson as a bus driver.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; a member of the Retired Sheet Metal Workers; and a member of the USS Pine Island AV-12 Association. Frank enjoyed woodworking; traveling to Branson, Mo.; attending the USS Pine Island reunions; and most of all, spending time with his children and families.

Other survivors include: four sons, Michael McBaine and his wife Debra of Jefferson City, Mo., Mark McBaine and his wife Alice of Jefferson City, Mo., Boyd Williams and his wife Jody of Rolla, Mo., and Bill Williams of Columbia, Mo.; five daughters, Tresha McBaine of Jefferson City, Mo., Rosemary Marsch and her husband Doug of Russellville, Mo., Alice Languell and her husband Keith of Tebbetts, Mo., Cathy Philbert of Jefferson City, Mo., and Kelly Raetz and her husband Jack of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Turner of New Franklin, Mo., and Mary Acton of Hallsville, Mo.; one brother, Dale McBaine of Boonville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Philbert, Ryan Marsch, Daron Williams, Brad McBaine, Travis Marsch, Dean McBaine, Kelby Languell, Blake Williams, Alicia Languell, Amanda Williams, and Nicole McBaine; five step-grandchildren, Angie Crawford and her husband Rick, Chris Fisher, Bradley Cassmeyer, Amy Watson and her husband Kyle, and Chuck Raetz and his wife Elizabeth; one great-grandchild, Eathan McBaine; and one step-great-grandchild, Madaline Raetz. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Florence McBaine; and one brother-in-law, Ronald Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Rob Kespelher officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society; Relay for Life through the Fisher Family Cancer Team, c/o Boyd and Jody Williams; or Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer.
