Obituary of Mrs. Frank Brown
Jennie E McDowall was born in Tama County, Iowa, Nov. 30, 1880 and slipped away from her loved ones April 20, 1924. She was the daughter of West and Margaret McDowall. When five years of age the parents moved to Audubon county. Some five years later the home was established in Guthrie county. From that time the deceased has lived in and about Adair and Guthrie counties.
On March 6, 1901, Miss Jennie McDowall was married to Mr. Frank Brown, into which home a baby girl came June 18, 1904. The little one was given the name Norine Margaret.
Mrs. Brown has been in poor health for more than 20 years and very naturally a wonderful companionship existed between mother and daughter.
Mrs. Brown suffered a slight stroke of paralysis which helped to weaken her frail constitution. She knew that her strength would never be given back to her and was satisfied because it seemed to be the Will of the Heavenly Father. Recently she has said that she was not afraid to die because her faith was grounded in Jesus Christ.
In addition to the husband and daughter whose hearts are bowed down because of the loss of their sweet home maker, Mrs. Brown's mother, four brothers and two sisters are living. The father, one brother and two sisters have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Margaret McDowall, the mother lives near Casey. John and James have homes near Pine Bluff, Wyoming; William lives at Superior, Arizona; Lewis at Casey; Mrs. Agnes Schlotfeldt at Garry, Indiana; and Mrs. Mary Creighton at Adair.
Mrs. Brown was of a very sweet and retiring disposition. It gave her joy to see her daughter actively at work in the church. She had the true ambition of every noble parent, which is to see their children develop into splendid Christian characters.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the husband and daughter, mother and brothers and sisters, in this hour of sadness.
"For though from out the bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have cared the bar."
Brief funeral services were held at the late home, Thursday at 12:15 pm and at 2:00 the regular services were conducted at Adair. Rev. John F Arnold of the Guthrie Center M.E. Church preached the........
