Richard Ellis Appleton passed this life on Monday, October 14, 2019 at his home in Wagoner, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family at the age of 74. He was born on March 30, 1945 in Magazine, Arkansas to his parents, Walter and Martha Appleton.

In his younger years Richard was in the National Guard. He met the love of his life, Betty Lou Parker and on February 18, 1967 the two were united in marriage and they spent 51 wonderful years together until her passing in 2018.

Richard worked as a truck driver for Martin and Double LL Trucking for many years.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou, his parents, Walter and Martha, his brothers, Edgar, Garner,James,Junior,Bill, Earl, Lloyd, Hank, Sonny, J.B., and Donald Appleton and his sisters, Ivan, Ann, and Peggy

He leaves behind his son, Jason Appleton and wife, Chelsea of Wagoner, Oklahoma, sister, Dorothy Gall of Worthington, Ohio and grandchildren, Destiny Lee, Delanie Sourjohn and Addison Appleton.

A graveside service will be held at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Shipman Funeral Home in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are trusted into the care of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
