McMinnville – Peggy Evelyn Tate Hutchins age 90, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2019 at NHC in McMinnville, TN after an extended illness.

Survivors include son, Danny Hutchins (Charlotte Hutchins); daughters, Dianna Lynn Ross, Dawna Beaty (James Beaty), Darlene Thompson of Franklin, TN, Debi Merritt (Allen Jennings), Denise Williams (Clay O’Brien) of Hendersonville, TN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She had several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will miss her as well.

Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Orbin (Chick) Latton Hutchins; sisters, Linda Jane Smartt, Melba Jean Rollings; brothers, John Robert Tate, Thomas William (Tommy) Tate, and Owen Kendall (Tookie) Tate.

Peggy was born May 21, 1929 in Altamont, TN to the late Hascal and Ada Scruggs Tate. Aside from raising a family, she also worked for many years in the garment industry in McMinnville, TN before retiring. Her door was always open to those she knew and she enjoyed cooking and feeding family members, friends and anyone they brought along with them.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels or a charity of choice.

Graveside service will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1pm at Gardens of Memory Memorial Cemetery located at 5201 Manchester Highway, Morrison, TN 37357. Dana McCormick Mullins will officiate the service.
