CARLESS A. BATEY

Carless Ambrose Batey, the son of Dovey and Elsie Wisecarver Batey, was born in Wayne County, Mo., on Feb. 8, 1899. Mr. Batey was converted in 1951, and united with the Williamsville Methodist Church where his membership remained until his death.

In 1924 he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Jane Robinson, and to this union four children were born. One son preceded him in death.

Mr. Batey is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Rosetta Dixon of Cahokia, Ill., Mrs. Edna May Glass and Mrs. Audrey Ramona Cazares, both of St. Louis, 27 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Mr. Batey passed away at his home in Williamsville on Apr. 27th, 1968, at the age of 69 years, two months and 19 days.

The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church in Williamsville on April 29th, with Rev. Robert Lee officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jewel Strickland, Mrs. Joyce Julian, Elva Davis and Charles Tucker. Serving as casketbearers were O. L. Holmses, John McClure, Charles Tinker, Earl Duncan, Woodrow Hughes and J. W. Taylor. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery on Cane Creek, Coder Funeral Home of Williamsville.
