Myrtle was born January 4, 1931 in Cochran, GA to Jack Lee Long and Adel Hogan Long.
On September 10, 1949 she married the love of her life, James Robert Brown. James and Myrtle enjoyed raising three children together, Melinda (Mark) Taylor, Terry (Christine) Brown and Janice (Alan) Thiese. They have been blessed with 10 grandchildren, John (Ali) Amerson, Nicki (Zach) Hamilton, Michael (Karly) Thiese, Shield (Krystal) Bozeman III, Scott Brown, Aaron (Megan) Brown, Abbey Brown, Sam Williams, Christopher (Lori) Buchannan, Jessica (Dustin) Stark, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Myrtle is also survived by her sister, Myrtice Brown and brother, Jack (Pete) Long and sister-in-law, Vera Williams.
Myrtle was filled with love for her family. She enjoyed life and taking care of others. Even at the nursing home, where she lived the past two years, anytime anyone would stop by to say hello while she was eating, she would tell them “come have some”. Myrtle passed away peacefully in God’s care on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Although she is no longer be with us on this earth, we all have our beautiful memories of her and will cherish them forever.
The family wishes to thank the Staff at Life Spring Church Home for the love and care that they have given to Myrtle for the past two years while she was in their care. They were truly her second family.
Funeral services for Myrtle Long Brown will be held Friday October 11, 2109 at 2:00 PM in Reece Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville has charge of arrangements.
