THURMAN BATES Thurman Bates, 88, of Ellisville, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at South Central Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 2:30 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Tucker and the Rev. C. J. Rigney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Jones of Ellisville in charge of arrangements. He was retired from the Mississippi Highway Department. He was a member of Praise Fellowship Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lucille Bates of Ellisville; four sons, Henry Bates and Robert Bates of Ovett, Eulle Bates of Richton, and James (J. L.) Bates of Star; a daughter, Barbara Creel of Ellisville; brother, Cecil Bates of Monticello, Ark.; sister, Hazel Blackledge of Ellisville; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home.
