George William "Bill" Ash of Vestavia Hills, passed away peacefully on Monday, the 7th of October 2019 after a long and meaningful life. He was 89 years of age.

Born to the late Henry Carson Ash (1904-2000) and Eartis Idell Lovell Ash (1908-1987) on Christmas Day 1929, he became a wonderful husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather.

A graduate of Howard College (now Samford University), Bill was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. You could often find him at his favorite fishing clubs, Lake George and Rex Lake. In addition, he loved horseshoes, football, and played baseball in the Minor League.

Bill was also a wonderful businessman. For 65 years and owned his own businesses and was very successful. He was the President and Owner of Ashcraft Cookware, Fashion Royale China, and American Cookware, Inc.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Jean Grizzard "Peggy" Ash (1938-2013). He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ash Adams (1931-1986).

He is survived by two loving children, Michelle Ash Baskerville and William Randolph "Randy" Ash (Lisa); granddaughter, Melanie Margaret Baskerville; nephew, Mike Adams; numerous other family members and by his granddog, Savannah.

The funeral service will commence at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 11th of October at Ridout's Valley Chapel with visitation one hour prior. The committal service will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, in Birmingham's historical Elmwood Cemetery.
