Mr. Shearer was a retiree of the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church, and served as deacon. Mr. Shearer was born Feb. 27, 1924, to Charles and Ruby (Kimmel) Shearer. Both preceded him in death. He was married to the former Bessie Vaughn. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, a daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, sisters, Iris Sanders, Charlene Moore and Phyllis Hill, all of Johnston City, Melba Hood of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, John Julian Shearer of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Shearer, and a granddaughter, Angela Shearer.
