Russian Count and Imperial Infantry Army General. Born Friedrich Moritz Reichsgraf van Heyden of German-Dutch ancestry, he was the youngest son of Dutch Lodewijk Sigismund Gustaaf van Heiden and Anne-Marie Akeleye, who was from a Danish family. After embarking on a military career, he converted to the Russian Orthodox faith and took the Russified name of Fyodor Logginovich Geyden. His military career ran from 1835 until his death and during that time he served during the Crimean War and the Caucasian War, seeing action at the Battle of Dargo in 1845. From 1881 until 1898 he served as the Governor-General of Finland. He died at the age of 78.
