ROCK FALLS - Janice A. Bates, 77, died Monday, March 26, 2018 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. She had worked as a dietician at CGH Medical Center in Sterling for 30 years.

She was born Jan. 18, 1941 in Canby, Minnesota, the daughter of Russell and Leona (Winkles) Hanson. She married William P. Bates Sr. on Feb. 24, 1960. He died May 10, 2010. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa (Dusty) Hylton and Lisa Bates, both of Rock Falls; her son, William (Debra) Bates Jr. of Rock Falls; three sisters, Dorothy (Homer) Heaton of Geneseo, Marilyn (Gary) Seidel of Minnesota, and Linda (Mark) Ellis of Tennessee; her brother, Allen (Linda) Hanson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeff Bates.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, and the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with the Rev. Richard Russo, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
