Ellen-Marie H. Dennis, 90, of Martinsville, VA passed on to glory on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home.
She was born April 15, 1928 in Worcester, MA to the late John A. and Ellen M. Herr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, F. Craig Dennis.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Forest G. Dennis, of the home; daughter, Carol Ellen Dennis, of Lynchburg, VA; sons, Glenn M. Dennis and his wife, Patricia Gilley Dennis, of Collinsville, VA and Richard P. Dennis and his wife, Carla Armstrong Dennis, of Raleigh, NC; daughter-in-law Penny J. Dennis of Callaway, MD; brother, John M. Herr and wife Betty Herr of Cape Cod, MA; six grandchildren, Rachel, Paul and Robyn Dennis, Sasha Lewis, Michael Musgrove, Jr. and Carrie DeGraw; and four great-grandchildren, Amaya and Caleb Musgrove and Madison and Abigail DeGraw.
Ellen graduated from the University of Connecticut and was employed for several years by Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company in Denver, Colorado. She was active in the Martinsville Women’s Aglow, the Virginia Society for Human Life, the Good News Jail Ministry in Henry County, the Martinsville Crisis Pregnancy Center and she served as an election official in Martinsville. She was a member of Mercy Crossing church.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Mercy Crossing. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Wood officiating.
