He was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Davenport, to Jess and Mabel Hogue Daniel. He married Mary Leonard Nov. 20, 1943, in Davenport.
He was employed as an assembler and installer at the former Malco Inc., Rock Island, retiring in 1968.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a member of the Senior Golf League in Davenport.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Mary; daughter Cheryl (Roy) Wilkerson, Moline; six sons, James 'Dan'(Cathy) Daniel Jr., Moline, John Daniel, Springfield, Ill., Bruce (Valorie) Daniel, Orion, Fred Daniel, Moline, Kevin Daniel, Ocala, Fla., Scott (Jennifer) Daniel, Rock Island; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
