OBITUARY from Clearfield Progress April 5, 1949 - Joseph Lehman, 69, Well-Known Local Resident Dies - Joseph F. Lehman, 60, well known business man and booster of athletes, died at 2 p. m. yesterday afternoon at the Clearfield Hospital following an extended illness. He had been in the hospital for the past four weeks and had been ill at his home for the past two years, being away from business for that period of time. Mr. Lehman came to Clearfield in 1912 from Patton and in his younger years was a prominent booster of all types of athletics in the borough. He was president of the former Clearfield Athletic Association for a number of years and along with several other area businessmen was active in sponsoring baseball teams In Clearfield and in promoting boxing shows here. He had been in business as a barber at 4 South Second street since 1914 and his shop was a gathering place for sporting enthusiasts. At the time of his death Mr. Lehman was a member of the B. P. 0. Elks, the F. O. Eagles, the United Commercial Travelers and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his widow, Laura, and one daughter, Dorothy, at home. He is also survived by one brother, George of Patton, and the following four sisters: Mrs. Otto Anna of Canon City, Colorado; Mrs. Alvin Weyland of San Francisco; Mrs, Paul Blum of Wilkes-Barre and Mrs. William Sally of Patton.
