Stephanie Renee Hubbard, age 20, died in an auto accident at Ruth Lake early Saturday morning, September 1, 2007. Stephanie was born in Medford, Oregon, on January 12, 1987, and is the daughter of Donald Hubbard of Lake Creek, Oregon, and Michelle Duer of Ferndale. Steph moved to Ferndale in 1998 and attended Ferndale schools. She was captain of the cheerleading squad for the Ferndale Wildcat teams and homecoming princess. Stephanie graduated Ferndale High School in 2005 and attended college at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR, and College of the Redwoods.
Steph loved animals, the outdoors, camping, swimming and hiking.
In addition to her parents, Stephanie is survived by her brother, Chris Hubbard and her sister, Sara Hubbard of Ferndale; grandparents, Don and Janet Hubbard of Central Point, OR; grandfather, Bill Simpson of Vancouver, WA; grandmother, Norma Lorenzo of Ferndale; great grandmother, Odessa Vielbig of Central Point, OR; uncles, Kenny Simpson, Ferndale, Darrell Simpson and his wife Carrie of Grants Pass, OR; auntie, Ronda Settgast and her husband Brad of Huntington Beach, CA; uncle, Bud Mires of Gilchrist, OR; cousins, Tanner and Erika Simpson of Grants Pass, Brianna and Riley Conneen of Huntington Beach; step-brothers, Brandon and Travis Duer of White City, OR; and many other extended family members and special friends.
A memorial service for Stephanie will be held on Saturday September 8, 2007, at 2:00 pm at Citizen’s Chapel of the Ferns in Ferndale, with a reception to follow at Bill and Mary Thurston’s, also in Ferndale.
