Mattie Hixon Foster Funeral services for Mattie Hixon Foster, 91, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Swartz First Baptist Church, Monroe, LA, with John Hillis officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mrs. Foster passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Monroe, LA. She was a member of Swartz First Baptist Church. She retired from ULM as a food service worker. Everyone at the church knew her by the cards she sent out each month. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel C., Sr. and Viola Brooks Hixon; husband, Marvin Foster; sisters-in-law, Rita and Virginia Hixon; son-in-law, Royce Lord; and great granddaughter, Zoé Grace Foster. Survivors include her three daughters, Phyllis Hammonds and husband Harvey of Morgan City, LA, Lavenia Hillis and husband John of Monroe, LA and Jeannie Lord of Monroe, LA; four grandchildren, Colleen Hammonds Keller, Ty Hammonds, Chris Foster and Michelle Hillis; eight great grandchildren; and two brothers, Samuel C. Hixon, Jr and Prentice M. Hixon. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Swartz First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Swartz First Baptist Church.
