Lucille Heffern Tolstead, was born on April 10, 1923, Mower County Minnesota, the youngest of seven children born to John and Maude Johnson Heffern. She attended country schools graduating from Adams High School. She married Donald Tolstead in November 1942. They made many moves related to Donald work with the Chicago North Western Railroad and returned to Austin after their retirement. She died on 11 November 2016 at age 93.
