Mrs. Mary E. Buske, 72, Rochester resident, dies

Mary E. Buske, 72, of 2017 Third Ave. S.W., a retired school custodian, died early Sunday morning at Woodside Convalescent Center of complications of a stroke following a long illness.

The former Mary E. Heffern was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Grand Meadow. She and Clifford Harrington were married in Austin in 1942 and they were later divorced. On April 17, 1977, she and Murlin Buske were married in Mankato. Mrs. Buske had lived in Rochester since 1977 and also from 1959 to 1975. She had also lived in Grand Meadow, Spring Valley, Austin, Mona, Iowa , and Texas during her lifetime. Mrs. Buske worked as a custodian for Rochester schools until retiring in 1975. Her husband was also a custodian for the Rochester school system. He retired in 1981.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, James Harrington of Palm Desert, Calif., Paul Harrington of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Carol) York of Downers Grove, Ill; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Tolstead of Austin, and four brothers, Richard and Maynard Heffern, both of Grand Meadow, George Heffern of Spring Valley, and John Robert Heffern of New Prague. A brother preceded her in death.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Martin Mueller of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Grand Meadow Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service Wednesday.
