Merle D. Varner Jr., 73, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Brookview Healthcare Center.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Merle D. and Nancy Rebecca Hunt Varner, Sr.
He was a member of Troy Baptist Church in Windham, Ohio, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three sons, a daughter, two sisters, 27 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.
