Glenda Yates, 74, of Wynne, died on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Glenda was born on January 5, 1945 in Wynne, Arkansas, to the late Charlie Baker and Lillie Mae Miller Baker. She was a life long resident of Cross County. Glenda owned and operated Glenda's Beauty Shop on West Union until recently retiring to Memphis. She was a hard worker and spent countless hours fixing hair at the nursing homes and funeral homes. Glenda never met a stranger.
She is survived by her sons, Stuart Baker Yates and wife Laney of Memphis, Jordan Baker Yates of Austin, daughter, Melanye Yates Wilkerson and husband Harold of Little Rock, sisters, Ruby Baker Hodges of Cherry Valley, Hazel Baker Burns of Van Buren, Arkansas, Wilma Baker Butler of Marietta, Georgia, Faye Baker English of Wynne, grandchildren, Monika Wilkerson, Mallory Wilkerson.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Marvin, Melvin Baker and her parents, Charlie and Lillie Baker.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019, 6 to 8 PM at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20 2019 at 10 am at Kernodle Funeral Home with burial in Vanndale Cemetery. Kernodle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
