Gary Wayne Simmons, 69, of Egypt passed from this life on Monday, September 16, 2019. He was born in Walnut Ridge on September 14, 1950 to Alden and Maureen Simmons.

Gary owned and operated Gary’s Batteries in Egypt, Arkansas for over 30 years. His hobby’s included hunting, fishing, and a shot of whiskey or two.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Alden Simmons; sister, Linda Hensley; and brother, Danny Simmons.

Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lila Simmons; son, Calvin Simmons (Amanda); mother, Maureen Simmons; brother, Larry Simmons, Eddie Simmons, Dewayne Simmons, David Simmons, and Joey Simmons; sisters, Carolyn Britt, Patty Burns, and Lynnette Colley; grandchildren, Robbin Simmons, Blain Simmons, Lindsey Simmons, Kailey Simmons, Destiny Estes, Hunter Simmons, and D.D. Smith; and great grandchildren, Jaxton “J.W. “ Simmons, Gavin “Little Bit” Simmons, Kyler Crays, Kaylyn Crays, Dakota Estes, Zayden Pierce, and Thomas Simmons.

The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2019.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Markham Cemetery in Egypt.
