Norma Ruth Brownlee, 90, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019, in Baytown, Texas. She was born on June 28, 1929, in Wynnewood View, Oklahoma to the late Jerry and Velma Grace Noland Watson. Norma attended and graduated from school in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
Norma was a small-town country girl who was tossed into a preacher’s world. She became a great Sunday School teacher and enjoyed ministering as well. Norma and her husband Rev. J.P. Brownlee were members at Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton, where J.P. ministered for many years.
Norma pursued many interests, some of which included her love of flower gardening and solving crossword puzzles. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed reading mystery novels. Her favorite hobby of all was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.P. Brownlee; and her son John Paul Brownlee. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her children Russell Brownlee and wife Robin, Steve Brownlee, and Donna Hopper and husband James; her grandchildren Paul Hopper, John Paul Brownlee and wife Carrie and Racheal Jamison and husband Garret; her great-grandchildren Hadlee, Carlee and Weston Jamison and Ian and Grant Brownlee; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Russell Brownlee, John Paul Brownlee, Garrett Jamison, Fred Collins, Kelly Street, and Byron Kenard. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Brownlee and Paul Hopper.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 8pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Sterling Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Day officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in French Cemetery in Dayton.
