Laverne L. King (Crock), 86, of Willoughby, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 12, 2019. She was born on January 10, 1933 in Caldwell, Ohio to Albert and Ida Crock, both deceased.
Laverne was a founding member and devout Catholic at St. Justin Martyr Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and led the congregation in the rosary and novena every week. She was a member of the red hats and showbiz kids, entertainment in local nursing homes. Laverne touched many people’s life through her volunteer work and especially her prayer chains. She retired from the Childcare Center at Lakeland Community College in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening, daisies were her absolute favorite. Laverne was a kind soul, a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed.
Laverne is survived by her children, Roxanne (Nick) Popovich, Cynthia (Rich Sr.) Parison, Becky (Marty) Sedlock, Jeffrey King and Jack (Amy) King, her grandchildren, Ron Lemieux, Scott (Justine) Sedlock, Katrina Sedlock, Amanda King, Sarah (James) Hampson, Emily, Elizabeth and Zachary King and Richard Parison Jr., her great grandchildren, Oliver, Addison and Brynlee, her sister, Joanne (Robert) Smithburger.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald L. King and her siblings, Irene, Ruth, Vera, and Ronnie.
Burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10am at St. Justin Martyr Church, 35781 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake.
