Mr. Herman Lee Dillard, age 65, of 24 Benjamin St. NE, Rome, GA, died July 1, 2007, in a local hospital.

Mr. Dillard was born in Gordon County, GA, on December 31, 1941, son of the late John William Dillard and Cora Mae Bagley Dillard. After his parents' death, he was raised by his loving sister, Louise Carden. Mr. Dillard was a veteran of the United States Army and member of the American Legion. He had been a charter member and church clerk of the Rome Baptist Temple since August of 1979, when the church was founded. Prior to retirement in April 2003, Mr. Dillard was associated with Galey and Lord Textile Mill as a maintenance manager for 45 years. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the BEAA. Mr. Dillard's greatest love was his family, especially taking care of his grandchildren. He was well thought of and will be missed dearly. He is preceded by two brothers, Sam Dillard and Clinton Dillard; and four sisters, Lillian Crump, Aileen Pendley, Lenora Brock, and Eddie Belle Jones.

Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife, Jacky F. Dillard of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Chuck Prevost of Rome; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Tom Russell of Milford, DE; his two beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Prevost and Adrienne Shea Prevost of Rome; a brother Gene Dillard of Calhoun, GA; four sisters, Kathleen Conaway of Plainville, GA, Anna Lee Sticher , Johnnie Mae Lanham, and Louise Carden all of Rome; a special niece, Janice Pinson of Rome; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Raymond and Thadda Sockriter of Milton, DE. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2007, at 11:00 AM in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Goolesby and Rev. Jack Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.
Herman was my cousin,his brother Gene Dillard passed away in aug. 2007 also his brother Clinton Dillard passed away in May 2007
