Beverly was born January 28, 1934, in Seward, Nebraska, to Clarence W. and Pauline (Stiles) Davis and succumbed to numerous medical problems including cancer on September 5, 2019.
She began her cancer journey with surgery on September 11, 2008, and she is being laid to rest on the 11th anniversary of that starting that battle.
The funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 7801 Indiana Avenue in Lubbock, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11.
Rev. Daniel Hinton will officiate, and Rev. Dr. Alan Abel will be the Proclaimer.
She graduated from Garland High School in 1952, and married Charles R. King, April 18, 1954, in Garland.
He received his crown of life on June 2, 2006.
Beverly was employed a number of places including the Reese Air Force Base Credit Union, Michael’s and JP's Fundwear.
She was actively involved in activities of Christ Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir, organizing special meals for the Church and holding all local offices of Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) as well as serving as LWML Zone President.
She was an avid reader, and her extensive collection of books will be donated to Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her children: Joyce King-Evans (Don) of Whitharral, Jeff (Delonnia) King of Roanoke, Virginia and Cyndi Bowman (Wade Spang) of Minooka, Illinois.
Her youngest son, Kirby, died January 3, 2016.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Brandie Clevenger of Austin, Brittanie Clevenger of Muleshoe, Brian Clevenger of Levelland, Elizabeth King and Amanda (Ryan) Boles, both of Edmond, Oklahoma; two step-grandchildren: Katie (Ethan) Masie of Lipan, Texas and Jacob Evans of Levelland; six great-grandchildren: Ella Reisman and Nolan Gollwithzer of Austin, Austin Kleiner of Muleshoe, Britton and Bentley Clevenger of Levelland and Parker Franklin of Smyer.
Also mourning her loss are two siblings: Carol (Merle) Schulz of Garland, Nebraska and Leland (Ruth) Davis of Livingston,Texas and special friends Mark, Taylor, and Cade Franklin, all of Smyer, Kari Clevenger of Levelland and Avery Kleiner of Childress.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association USA, National Office, 161 N. Clark, Suite 3550, Chicago, Illinois, 60601; Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois, 60601; or any hospice or charity of your choice.
Beverly will lie in state at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th Street, Lubbock from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 10.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. that same day.
