Joyce Tyree Austin

Joyce Tyree Austin, 83, of Madison Heights, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019.

She was the loving wife of the late Henry Dale Austin.

Born on September 14, 1936 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. Tyree and the late Alice Tyree.

Joyce retired from Lovelace Petroleum and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano, word puzzles and scrolling on Facebook. Joyce treasured her family, especially the grandchildren, and her church family. Her homemade meals were enjoyed by many she knew and loved. Joyce was also a member of the Rebekah’s.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Jasiewicz and her brothers, Frank Tyree and wife Louise, Buck Tyree and wife Ruby, Warren Tyree and wife Virginia, and Lawrence Tyree.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Dianne Mays and husband Pete; her “children” she helped raise, Patricia Reese and husband James, Jennifer Wood, and Brandon Turner; three grandchildren, Erica Mays, Jeremy Mays and wife Mandy, and Joshua Mays and wife Kelly; 10 grandchildren, Mackenzie Rivera, Mason Mays, Lacey Mays, Kaleb Mays, Zachary Smith and Ariana Billings, Jacob Jerina,Bethany Mays, Travis Burley, and Colton Burley; son-in-law, Paul Jasiewicz; sister-in-law, Imy Tyree; friend of the family, Rachel Coffer; her best friend, Marie Coles; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Meade Cemetery with Pastor Jacob Uthup officiating. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
