Carole Catherine Murphy, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012. Carole was born January 27, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to George and Claire Quinn. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Ursaline Academy High School and the University of Cincinnati where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. Carole married Reed F. Murphy, Jr. on October 23, 1954. Together they have four sons and one daughter. Carole enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. They were her life. Carole had a wonderful dedication to her large circle of close friends. She had a way of making people feel welcome with her warm heart and smile. She was extremely self-sacrificing, always putting others first. She was dedicated to her faith in the Catholic Church, including various volunteer activities. Carole enjoyed travel, shopping, admiring and creating art and jewelry with her many friends and family. Above all, she was a dedicated mother and friend whose generous spirit was felt by all who were blessed to know her. Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Reed F. Murphy, Jr. and her parents. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Tim and Elin, Reed and Martha, Mike and Theresa, Jeff and Michelle, Maureen and Mike Bukaty; eighteen grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 10:00 a.m. at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Please consider wearing bright colored clothes in honor of Carole. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at the church.
