John Davenport, 80, of Fullton, Calif, who formerly lived here and owned and operated the Wakarusa bakery for a number of years before moving to Elkhart, died Oct 24 in Fullerton.
Mr Davenport’s first marriage was to America Hughes in Wakarusa.
They were the parents of a daughter, Vesta, now Mrs Howell of Los Angeles, Calif.
Dec 6, 1947, he was married to Margaret Kobernick Swank of Elkhart.
She survives with his daughter Vesta and several nephews and nieces, and also three step-children, all of California.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Fullerton with burial here.

A telegram informing Wakarusa relatives of the death of Mrs John (America) Davenport of Los Angeles, Calif, was received Tuesday morning by a niece, Miss Frankie Myers.
Mrs Davenport, 78, was a sister of the late Mrs John B Myers, and the daughter of Benjamin and Mary E Hughes. She had lived in Wakarusa and Elkhart until about 36 years ago when they went to California.
She was married to John Davenport in Wakarusa and their only daughter, Vest, who is now Mrs Kenneth Howell of Los Angeles, was born to them in Elkhart.
Mr and Mrs Davenport visited relatives here five years ago, and she and Mr Davenport were enroute here for another expected visit when she suffered a stroke of paralysis, September 12, in the state of Wyoming. She returned to Los Angeles and passed away in the hospital Monday, Oct 1.
Funeral services and burial in Los Angeles.
