Allan Ludwig Johnsen, age 82, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa. Allan was born on May 14, 1923, the son of Albert and Maren "Mary" (Henriksen) Johnsen. They lived in Minnesota in his earlier years then moved to the rural Albert City and Newell area. He graduated from Sulfur Springs High School in 1942.
On June 28, 1944, Allan was united in marriage to Fern Elizabeth Larson in Sac City. This union was blessed with two daughters, Maren and Karn. He farmed with his father untill 1955, was a security guard for Horner & Olson Grocery Story, and later drove truck for Consumers Supply in Storm Lake until his retirement in 1971.
Allan was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, especially pheasant, trap shooting, collecting guns, and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing playing solitaire (his rules).
In 1994, Fern and Allan celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. He had a love of life, dedication to family, and a great sense of humor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Maren Lynne Peck and her husband Ben of Albert City, IA, and Karn LeAnn Johnsen of Lincoln, NE; three grandchildren: Chad Allan Peck of Jefferson, IA, Matthew Lee Peck and his wife Sarah of Davenport, IA, and David Martin Peck and his friend, Amanda DeJong of Jefferson, IA; and great-granddaughter, Erin Grace Peck. Other survivors include his sister, Helen Crilly of Seattle, WA, and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern Elizabeth Johnsen; sisters: Elgin DeLaHunt and Eleanora (Miki) Westermoe; and infant grandchildren: Shane Martin, John Paul, and James Jay.
