She was born on December 5, 1933.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Harry G. Young, Sr. & Dorothy M. Brown Young; three brothers, Jack K. Young, Wallace H. Young, Harry G. Young, II; one sister, Mamie E. Young Ferguson and two granddaughters, Michelle L. Keith Hale and Carmen M. Rye Thomas.
Surviving are one brother, Paul M. Young & wife, Flo Young; two sisters, Joyce Young Humphreys & husband, Albert Humphreys; Leona Young Thompson; one son, Thomas E. McKinney and wife, Karen McKinney; three daughters, Ellen M. Hunter & husband, Ron Hunter; Jeanne Rye & husband, Charlie Rye; Thea McKinney Poage & husband, Benny Poage; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Shirley worked as a Nursing Assistant for Snyders Nursing Home and retired in 2009. She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother who will be missed by many.
Services will be noon on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel with Pastor Rodney Spears officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
