George W. Franklin Sr, 65, Salina, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, at his home. Mr. Franklin was born Oct. 16, 1930, at Mountain Grove, Mo., and was a Salina resident since 1955, moving from Wichita. He was a truck driver for Ron Williams Trucking and Graves Truckliners, both of Salina. He had been self employed for the past several years, retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and recieved the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by a son, George W. Jr., in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Doris A. of the home; three daughters, Janet Gross of Enola, Pa., Joy Hagen of Salina and Judy De Herrera of Brookville; two brothers, Clifford of Joplin, Mo., and Rex of Neosha, Mo; two sisters, Barbara Bond of Kansas City, Kan., and Irene Bennett of Macomb, Mo.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, the Rev. John Daly officiating, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1432 Salina. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina or the Ronald McDonald House in Topeka. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N Eighth, Salina 67401.
