Son of Robert and Clara (Towsely) Stone. Ralph grew up in Lasalle, and he attended school there. He entered the United States Air Force in 1956 and served for 23 years, retiring in 1979 as a Master Sgt. He fought in the Vietnam War.
He first married Patty Jo Clelland, Peru, Miami County, Indiana and had three children.
He then married Frances Winkler on December 23, 1971 in Monroe. After being honorably discharged from the service, Ralph worked for the Xerox Corporation for 19 years. He, then, moved to Crystal Falls, and Ralph, along with his wife, purchased the Michi Aho Motel and Resort which he had been operating.
